Impaired don't care
Are you a disabled person fed up of the constant search for Personal Assistants?
I’ve been a Personal Assistant (PA) User for many, many years and over that time it has become increasing difficult to find the right P.A’s that suit my needs. From talking to other Disabled People that use P.A’s we all seem to have similar experiences. There are and have been websites that aim to solve this issue, but none that have resolved this issue for me.
For the past few years I have been busy being a disabled single mum. However, before this I was a physical theatre practitioner and was fortunate to work Nationally and International in the dance and physical theatre scene. Working as a performer, filmmaker, teacher, and consultant I have developed a reputation for depth, intelligence and physical courage in my work.
Since leaving university in 1995 I have had the privilege to work with companies such as Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company on ‘Frankenstein’ directed by Liam Steel, Candoco Dance Company, Graeae Theatre Company, Jess Curtis/Gravity Theatre and Restless Dance Company. As well as developing work in collaboration with other artists, including a short dance for camera film directed by Charlotte Derbyshire and screened on Channel 4 as part of their 3 Minute Wonder Series.
My intention is to return to the Arts and live life how I wish to live it. Whether, that’s being a Mother, Artist, Friend or Lover. We all need to get on with our lives and not spend our time looking for Personal Assistants.
Let’s resolve this and open the discussion!
